Herkimer BOCES presents partnership award to Public health

From staff reports Times Telegram Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES recently presented the Herkimer County Public Health Department with the Herkimer BOCES 2021 Community Partnership Award for cooperation with local schools through the COVID-19 pandemic.  Herkimer BOCES District Superintendent Sandra Sherwood gave the award to Herkimer County Public Health Department Director Christina Cain and her team in person and officially announced the award during the virtual Herkimer BOCES Annual Meeting held April 1.  “Ever since last March, you and your team have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with BOCES and all the schools in our region to mitigate the effects and spread of COVID-19,” Sherwood said. “I appreciate all the phone conversations around protocols and that you reach out to all the schools whenever you are needed – nights, weekends, holidays – when the community needs you, you are there.”

Observer-Dispatch Oneida County reports 37 new COVID-19 cases, while Herkimer County has six. Oneida County will administer vaccines to residents who are housebound, starting Friday by appointment. Here is the latest information:  County to vaccinate homebound residents Oneida County is partnering with Upstate Family Health Center to administer 500 COVID-19 vaccinations Friday to homebound residents and those in residential facilities, Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente Jr. said.  County residents older than 18 who are homebound due to a disability or mobility issue are eligible to receive a Johnson & Johnson vaccination, he said. An appointment is required and can be scheduled by calling 315-798-5439.
