VANCOUVER, British Columbia Daniel and Henrik Sedin are returning to the Vancouver Canucks to work in the front office.
Three years after their retirement, the Swedish twins joined the Canucks hockey operations department with the title of special adviser to the general manager, Jim Benning. We re coming in as rookies, old rookies, Daniel Sedin told a video conference Wednesday. We want to come in and learn all aspects of this side of the business.
Henrik Sedin, who served as Canuck captain from 2010 to 2018, said it was important for the brothers to have a meaningful role with the club.

The team says the Sedins will be involved in player evaluation and development as part of their duties, and they will participate in planning for the draft, free agency and the trade deadline.
Henrik Sedin leads the franchise in games played (1,330), assists (830), points (1,070) and plus minus (plus-165), while twin brother Daniel leads in goals (393), power-play goals (138), game-winning goals (86) and shots on goal (3,474).
Henrik Sedin was team captain from 2010 to 2018. He was named the Hart Trophy winner as NHL MVP in 2010.
The Sedins retired in 2018 after 17 NHL seasons, all with the Canucks. Their jerseys were retired on Feb. 12, 2020. The Vancouver Canucks welcomed Daniel and Henrik Sedin back to the organization Tuesday as special advisors to general manager Jim Benning.
The 40-year-old twins, two of the most accomplished players in franchise history, will support all areas of the team s hockey operations. That includes player evaluation and development, working with staff and coaches at AHL Abbotsford and helping out with scouting, the draft, free agency and trades. Henrik and Daniel s hockey intellect and experience is exceptional, said Benning. We ve had an open line of communication since they retired as players. They are students of the game, eager to learn, who will make valuable contributions and strengthen our staff. We are very pleased to add their knowledge and passion for the game and have them begin the next stage of their careers with us.
