Henry Norman ‘Butch’ Robey Jr.
LELAND Henry Norman “Butch” Robey Jr., 70, beloved husband and father, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021, surrounded by family.
Butch was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He grew up with a family that loved to laugh, a trait that he would carry his whole life and later instill in his own children.
Butch attended Johns Hopkins University, where he graduated with a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering. A scholar athlete, he was a lettered varsity running back for the Blue Jays football team, where he was recognized for his ability, leadership, and team loyalty, winning the MAC South co-championship in 1969. He was the co-captain his senior year with his lifelong friend Eric. Butch would continue to play football after his college career for the semi-pro Baltimore Eagles, where he met lifelong friend, Denny.

Award nominations for ‘Our Town: Gallipolis’

ATHENS Three WOUB Public Media employees have been nominated for an Ohio Valley Regional Emmy award for their work on “Our Town: Gallipolis.”
According to a news release from WOUB, winners will be announced during the 57th annual awards ceremony which will be held virtually on Aug. 15.
In the Documentary Historical category, Producer/Director Evan Shaw, Audio Supervisor Adam Rich and WOUB Radio Director Rusty Smith were nominated for “Our Town: Gallipolis.” The documentary film is an hour-long look at the history of the Gallia County community. It examines many unique aspects and people of Gallipolis including: the town’s first settlers, the Silver Bridge, and Gallipolis’ connection to the sinking of the Titanic. The film also explores some of Gallipolis’ more notable residents like Bob Evans, Tuskegee Airman Henry Norman and Grandma Gatewood.
