Thousands of frontline health care workers in Louisiana are anxiously awaiting the first doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine this weekend as the state’s initial allocation is expected to be delivered in the next few days, pending FDA approval.
Ochsner Health System is expecting to be able to vaccinate thousands of its frontline health care workers across the state by Monday, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Robert Hart said, with distribution hubs stationed in New Orleans, Shreveport and Lafayette.
Those hubs are prepared to share an initial shipment of 9,375 doses of pharmaceutical company Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, if the federal Food and Drug Administration grants it emergency use authorization in the next few days.
