DETROIT (March 11, 2021) - Henry Ford Cancer Institute is launching the Participatory Action for Access to Clinical Trials (PAACT) project to dramatically improve the representation of the African American community and other minorities in cancer clinical trials.
Supported by a $750,000 grant from Genentech, PAACT is a community-based research initiative in collaboration with the Detroit Community-Academic Urban Research Center (Detroit URC) that will address various barriers to trust and participation in clinical trials. Researchers and community partners will focus on clinical trials involving breast, colorectal, lung, and prostate cancers, which are more likely to result in death for African Americans when compared to other racial and ethnic groups. Henry Ford Cancer Institute is launching the Participatory Action for Access to Clinical Trials (PAACT) project to dramatically improve the representation of the African American community and other minorities in cancer clinical trials.

Two leaders who have spent nearly a year at the center of the battle against the coronavirus reacted the only way they could to the pandemic: by moving fast and staying flexible.
Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, the chief medical officer of the Michigan Department of Health and Human services, spoke with Crain s Executive Editor Kelley Root as part of a webcast series of interviews of Crain s top Newsmakers of 2020 presented on Tuesday.
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Khaldun have been criticized for not setting specific benchmarks for reopening the economy, but Khaldun said that hasn t been possible.
