Kansas-based Ottawa University, which has a fast-growing campus in Surprise, has named a new president and CEO to succeed Chancellor Kevin Eichner who is set to retire this summer.
William Tsutsui will become president and CEO effective July 1, the university announced Friday. Eichner will continue to serve the university as chancellor emeritus through his contract period ending June 30, 2022.
The Mabee Foundation has awarded a $2 million challenge grant to Hendrix College in Conway.
The college must raise $1.7 million by April 15, 2022, to receive the grant that will support the launch of a $9.2 million residence hall renewal project. Plans include the renovation of the historic Martin and Veasey halls on campus.
The project is set to begin in late May and is part of A Time to Lead, Hendrix’s $150 million fundraising campaign. Last fall, the college announced that it had surpassed its original $110 million campaign goal more than a year ahead of schedule.
In November, Hendrix received a $15 million gift from the Windgate Foundation and expanded its campaign goal to $150 million. The campaign has raised $133 million so far and is set to end in 2023.

UAMS and Hendrix College to Hold Social Support Symposium for Older Arkansans April 22
LITTLE ROCK (April 14, 2021) The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences’ (UAMS) Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging, in conjunction with Hendrix College, will host the “Social Support and Connections for Older Arkansans Symposium” on Thursday, April 22, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Zoom.
The event, organized by UAMS’ Arkansas Geriatric Education Collaborative (AGEC), is free and open to the public, and registration is not required. Access the link here to attend.
