When Chorus installed fibre at Peter Kivell s apartment the wheelchair-bound man was excited at the prospect he d be able to better communicate with his friends and family using a voice-activated programme.
But, two months on and the 78-year-old s excitement has turned to sheer frustration because his fibre still doesn t work and numerous calls to Chorus have failed to solve the problem.

A sexual predator arrested outside a Wellington McDonald s after travelling to meet a fake teenager he d been grooming online has been sent to prison.
Kevin John Orchard, 50, appeared in the Wellington District Court today for sentencing on exposing a young person to indecent material and travelling to meet a young person for the purposes of sexual grooming.

The demand side disruptions due to the pandemic seem quite perceptible now as investment rate in the economy is pegged to touch multi-year low. As per CSO s first advance estimates, the ratio of gross fixed capital formation to GDP, at current prices, is expected to decline to 24.2 per cent for fiscal year 2021, the lowest since FY96. Moreover, these are likely to witness its sharpest fall of around 270 basis points over last year. Measured on constant prices, the investment-to-GDP ratio is expected to fall to a 16-year low of 27.6 per cent.
