If something felt wrong about penciling in the Gonzaga Bulldogs and Baylor Bears for the national championship of your 2021 March Madness bracket back on Selection Sunday, it s only because the NCAA tournament has traditionally given us so many surprises. INDIANAPOLIS By halftime of Baylor s 78-59 win over Houston in the men s basketball Final Four on Saturday, it was clear the two programs, one from the Big 12 and another from the American Athletic Conference, were operating on two different levels.
Baylor s 45-20 edge entering the break was the largest halftime lead in a Final Four game in 18 years and the fourth largest in Final Four history, according to ESPN Stats & Information research. Marcus Sasser had scored 17 points at that juncture. The rest of the Cougars had combined to record just three by halftime.

The Houston Cougars stellar basketball season has come to an end. They played all the way into the NCAA Semi-Final Championships.
It was the Baylor Bears turn to win this time. Final Score U of H 59 Baylor 78.
Add to an award-winning season, their head coach was honored as the best in the business. Coach Kelvin Sampson was named recipient of the John McLemore Award.
The finals will be played Monday with the Bears playing the winner between Gonzaga and UCLA.
