Toronto-area driver of Hyundai traumatized by self-braking malfunction

The dealer suggested that something might simply have blocked and triggered the sensor, but that it should not happen again. Nevertheless, the fault recurred two months later twice within two days, in fact. Mesa had the vehicle towed. She was told that moisture in the system’s inhibitor sensor might have sent a faulty signal to the Tucson’s computer, but that it had been replaced with an assurance that “it’s not going to happen again.”  One year later, it has happened again: “It was 120 km/h to zero in seconds. I really thought I was going to die… The person behind me almost hit me.”

Hyundai s crossovers and SUVs posted strong gains, as well as the brand s all-electric compact crossover, the Kona Electric.   Kona remains at the top of its segment, selling a total of 2,058 units, up by 27.6% from February 2020. Palisade posted a gain of 37.8%, for a total of 605 units. As Hyundai Canada continues to grow its electrified fleet and eco presence as Canada s second-largest distributor of electric vehicles, the Kona Electric posted a significant 70.3% gain for a total of 356 units.

Motor Mouth: The Road to Reduced Emissions

Both sides have reasonable arguments. On the one hand, ZEV mandates are easily gamed. For instance and apologies to Ford, I’m just using it as an example the company could meet its ZEV mandate obligations in Quebec by having its new Mach-E and plug-in Escape represent, say, 10 per cent of it sales. But if the other 90 per cent are all F-150s and Explorers, there hasn’t been much of a CO 2 reduction. On the other hand, Toyota may indeed be correct that a plug-in Prius has a smaller overall carbon footprint than a long-range Tesla mainly because of the emissions released in the production of huge 100-kilowatt-hour batteries but it’s tough to argue that replacing a Ram with a Rivian won’t be good for the environment.
