Housing affordability has been a major topic of concern for researchers and policymakers in recent years. Access to affordable, quality housing is associated with a variety of positive economic and social outcomes, which makes it an important tool to encourage families to thrive.
But historically, affordable housing has been out of reach for many. Low income populations and racial and ethnic minorities are often excluded from the wealth-building benefits of homeownership. People who rent are far more likely to be cost burdened by housing, according to Census Bureau data. And whenever income grows slowly as it has recently for certain groups housing affordability becomes even more of a challenge.
Camberos, who said it took two years to get to the grand opening, added that the dispensary would have at least two security guards 24 hours a day, seven days a week. He also pointed out that security cameras would capture video of every angle inside and outside of the facility, and that the location is nestled inside an industrial park, away from homes and schools.
“Over the moon to be able to be the very first one to bring you legal cannabis in Chula Vista,” Camberos said, smiling behind a face mask. “You know, this is a win for them, too.”
These antibodies are laboratory-created proteins that work by mimicking the immune system’s ability to fight viruses. According to the county, the antibody therapy has “proven to significantly reduce hospital visits and death in COVID-19 positive patients, if administered within 10 days of the onset of symptoms.”
The treatment is administered in the veins and lasts less than an hour, the county said in a statement.
Chula Vista’s upcoming site will be the county’s second MARC location. Palomar Medical Center in downtown Escondido opened its MARC in February and became San Diego County’s first site dedicated to the treatment model.

SAN DIEGO (AP) San Diego SWAT officers shot and killed an armed man who led officers on a car chase across the city before driving onto a high school campus and holing up inside a dumpster during an overnight standoff that ended Tuesday morning.
The man was believed to be a fugitive wanted in connection with two shootings within the last month. Officers were trying to take him into custody Monday night when he took off in a vehicle with a female passenger and drove onto the San Diego High School campus. There, the man carrying a rifle ran and jumped into a dumpster with the woman, officials said.
