A $2 billion transit packaging company is relocating its corporate headquarters from the Chicago area to Tampa in a move that economic leaders said should bring 200 jobs to the area.
Signode Industrial Group, which manufactures packaging tools and equipment for industrial shipping and storage, will relocate its top-level executives and other staff to Hidden River Corporate Park, just off Interstate 75 near Morris Bridge Road.

The operator of a lead smelter that has recently come under fire sent a letter to the Hillsborough County Commission outlining its steps to ensure worker safety and keep its environmental impact to a minimum.
Gopher Resource is one of a handful of companies nationwide that recycles lead batteries, most commonly used in cars. Its Tampa facility was the subject of a Tampa Bay Times series, “Poisoned,” that alleged the company had exposed workers and residents in the surrounding area to toxic levels of lead.

Residents warned to be cautious as COVID-19 cases rise in Bay Area

TAMPA, Fla. - Hillsborough County commissioners cautioned residents to continue social measures like wearing a mask and social distancing after the county health department reported rising COVID-19 cases, especially among young adults.
Health leaders say the virus hit a plateau then spread a little more each day over the last month. Since 30 days ago when we last met, our average cases have gone from 350 a day to 400. That’s about a 15% increase, said Dr. Douglas Holt, the director of the Florida Department of Health - Hillsborough County.
Cross Bay Ferry to MacDill AFB? Hillsborough County is looking into it
Commissioners are again looking into south County ferry service.
The Hillsborough County Commission voted Wednesday to approve a study to examine the possibility of expanding the Cross Bay Ferry Service.
The commission voted 6-1 to allot up to $100,000 for consulting firm Kimley-Horn to develop the report.

“I feel this project is a house of cards and we’re throwing good money after bad,” Hagan said during
Wednesday’s County Commission meeting. “However, I am hopeful that the study reflects the financial albatross and minimal ridership that exists with this project.”
