Washington Post, businessman Thomas J. Barrack was arrested today in California on federal charges of violation of foreign lobbying laws, obstruction of justice, and making false statements. Barrack, along with two others, have been accused of acting and conspiring to act as agents of the United Arab Emirates between April 2016 and April 2018. Officials claim that Barrack used his relationship with Trump to lobby for the UAE without properly alerting the government of his position. A spokesman for Barrack says he will plead not guilty. Lands in Eastern Washington operated by the state Department of Natural Resources will close to the public due to an extreme wildfire risk
MAZAMA, Wash. - State authorities said Tuesday the Department of Natural Resources would temporarily close all recreation and public access to DNR-managed lands in eastern Washington due to the extreme fire danger. This decision was not one we made lightly. But with the drought leaving the region as dry as ever, we must do all that we can to prevent human-caused fires, Washington Commissioner of Public Lands, Hilary Franz said in a statement.

Today, while visiting the Red Apple Fire, Commissioner Franz announced that, due to extreme fire danger and ongoing drought, the Washington State Department of Natural Resources is temporarily closing all recreational and public access to DNR-managed lands in eastern Washington beginning 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 23.
This temporary closure will apply to DNR-managed state lands, conservation areas, community forests and any associated roads, trails, campgrounds, recreational sites or recreational facilities.
The Red Apple Fire alone has burned over 12,000 acres. Across our state, over 900 fires have burned more than 140,000 acres.

Due to extreme fire danger, the Department of Natural Resources is closing all DNR-managed lands in Eastern Washington beginning midnight on Friday.
The temporary closure will also apply to any associated roads, trails, campgrounds, and recreational sites or facilities, and follows Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz burn ban – effective through September 30th.
DNR staff will continually monitor conditions and determine a reopening date once these factors have improved.
Across our state, over 900 fires have burned more than 140,000 acres.
