Stamps, registration dept to remain open on Saturdays
ByYogesh NaikYogesh Naik / Updated: Dec 13, 2020, 08:49 IST
registration and
stamps department will now allow people to register their documents on Saturdays too. The decision is aimed at reducing the number of people visiting the office on a daily basis, officials said.
In accordance with the recommendations of the Deepak Parekh committee, the state had reduced the
stamp duty from five per cent to two per cent.
The stamp duty will be three per cent from January to March 2021.
This reduction in stamp duty led to an increase in registrations. A circular from the Inspector General of Registration (IGR) and stamps Omprakash Deshmukh said that offices can be kept open on Saturdays and Sundays if needed.
