For an unassuming, humble young man, Oscar Loyola, Jr., Napa Valley College Class of 2021 Valedictorian, has already led a superlative life.
His life changed forever when he was in 8th grade and his mother, Blanca, unexpectedly passed away. She had been his biggest supporter and her loving influence has continued in his life, her voice in his head urging him to continue his education.
âI would like to thank my mom for raising me with love and teaching me that nothing thatâs worth having comes easy, and to work hard in silence,â he later told a reporter for the Napa Valley Register.

In 2020, as the pandemic surged across the globe, we went home. In-person interactions were cancelled, each to be replaced by a digital counterpart.
By January 2021, the average internet user had accounts on 8.4 different social media platforms and was spending two hours and 25 minutes on social media every day (with seven hours total spent on the internet across all devices) proving that the lines between the “real” world and its virtual parallel were now more blurred than ever.

Campus faculty and instructors have created ways to tackle potential academic dishonesty during remote learning. Certain deterrents include scores below zero if caught cheating, multicamera video recordings during testing and an online exam proctoring software called Honorlock.
Campus faculty and instructors have created ways to tackle and address academic dishonesty during remote learning in fall and spring 2020.
Rhea Sood, a campus sophomore who took Chemistry 1A during fall 2020, said students took advantage of the class’s end-of-lecture quizzes, which were graded for completion. Sood said some students uploaded blank pages or used answers from previous quizzes.

The office has more or less always served as a home base for real estate brokerages. But it’s never been a place that agents and brokers have been tied to all day.
Between showings, client meetings, inspections and more, agents and brokers have become accustomed to working flexibly in different places and from mobile devices. In the wake of the pandemic largely driving people away from the office altogether, a question on many people’s minds as the country returns to a new normal is, will real estate ever make a full return to the office?
The consensus among those in the industry seems to be, sort-of. The office is still useful and necessary, but how people use it moving forward might not be the same as before the pandemic.
