DAYTONA BEACH – Tropical Storm Elsa battered Florida s west coast with winds up to 62 mph and heavy rain Wednesday morning as it neared landfall in the state s Big Bend area.
But except for a steady light rain and an occasional gust of wind, the storm did little to disrupt life in Volusia and Flagler counties.
However, Volusia County Beach Safety did rescue one man who was transported to a hospital. They warned of dangerous rip currents.
“For the most part there is not any huge threat or risk,” according to Volusia County Emergency Management spokesperson Kate Sark. The county has been “spared” from the worst of the storm.
