As the second year of the Covid-19 pandemic unfolds, the United States has entered a new phase of heightened hope in the race to control the outbreak and get ahead of evolving variants. The U.S. government and health sector share an imperative to move quickly to immunize at scale and to address disparities in vaccine access at home and abroad.

But public trust and confidence in vaccines, science, and public health authorities are both fragile and absolutely pivotal. What is at stake is fundamentally a matter of national security: achieving herd immunity that truly and rapidly restabilizes public health, economic vitality, and society at large.

President Biden’s Leaders Summit on Climate has wrapped up. The event saw world leaders highlighting their countries’ respective climate commitments, calling for collective action, and attending breakout sessions designed to foster dialogue around climate finance and technological innovation, among other topics. After Vice President Harris and President Biden opened the summit, Secretary of State Antony Blinken offered further introductory remarks before the trio joined Climate Envoy John Kerry at a horseshoe-shaped table to watch speeches from the world leaders in attendance. Jenny Lee who has been selected as one of the 2021 KSEA-KUSCO Graduate Scholarship recipients, provided by Korean-American Scientist and Engineering Association (KSEA) to graduate students of Korean heritage at an accredited institution in the US. The vision of the KSEA is to promote the application of science and technology for the general welfare of society, foster international cooperation especially between the U.S. and Korea, and help Korean-American Scientists and Engineers develop their full career potential. Jenny will be attending the US-KOREA Conference on Science, Technology, and Entrepreneurship (UKC) 2021 for the scholarship award ceremony and presentation. Bush, daughter of former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush, spoke Friday at The Lubbock Women’s Club.
The co-founder and board chair of Global Health Corps (GHC), an organization that mobilizes young leaders to solve the world’s most pressing health issues, Bush spoke on the theme of One Person Can Make a Difference: Confronting Today’s Global Health Challenges.
Bush and her co-founders are united by the belief that health is a human right and that their generation must build a world where this is realized. Since 2009, GHC has placed over 1000 young leaders on the front lines of health equity in many African nations as well as the United States, developing a cadra of creative, effective and compassionate change makers.
