Kathiriya was arrested in February following an alleged argument and clash with members of Bhartiya Tribal Party (BTP) during Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) elections. He was booked at Kamrej police station for rioting and under sections of Prevention of Atrocities Act.
A group of around 50 PAAS members gathered outside the Lajpore Central Jail to receive Kathiriya. Hardik Patel, Dinesh Bambhaniya, Dharmik Malaviya and other PAAS leaders were also present. Earlier, PAAS had requested its supporters not to come in large numbers at LCJ to celebrate the release due to Covid guidelines.

A woman and her brother-in-law were arrested in Viramgam of Ahmedabad rural in Gujarat on Sunday for allegedly murdering her eight-year-old son about two years ago. The child had gone missing in September 2018 and a kidnapping report was filed on the same day. The police have now arrested the child s mother and uncle Josna Patel and Ramesh Patel for allegedly murdering him.

The high command is having a tough task in hand to contain infighting and dissent in state units where the party stands a chance of coming to power. Seven states are scheduled to elect new assemblies next year Goa, Manipur, Uttarakhand, Punjab, UP, Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.
