The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) on Wednesday suspended the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) after a group led by Syed Ashfaq Shah took over the PFF s control from the Normalisation Committee, appointed by the world governing body, which was being led by Haroon Malik.
A statement by FIFA said that the bureau of the FIFA Council suspended the PFF with immediate effect due to third-party interference, which constitutes a serious violation of the FIFA statutes.

KARACHI: FIFA on Wednesday suspended Pakistan due to third party interference, a decision that puts the nation into international isolation for the second time in three years.
The country had remained suspended for six months from October 2017 to March 2018 because of the same issue.
“The Bureau of the FIFA Council suspended the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) with immediate effect due to third-party interference, which constitutes a serious violation of the FIFA Statutes,” FIFA said in a statement.

KARACHI: Pakistan Football Federation’s inevitable suspension by FIFA was confirmed on Wednesday.
Yet, Ashfaq Hussain Shah whose move to take over the PFF headquarters led to the ban is still seeking dialogue with the world’s football governing body to resolve the issue.
“We are open to a dialogue with FIFA,” Ashfaq, who was elected president in a PFF election held by the Supreme Court in December 2018 which wasn’t recognised by FIFA, told Dawn. “We want them to listen to our grievances with the Normalisation Committee it appointed in Pakistan and find a way to resolve this matter.”

ISLAMABAD: The suspension of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Wednesday took the government by surprise as newly-appointed director general of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Col (r) Asif Zaman said that the FIFA Council took the decision in a haste.
The Bureau of the FIFA Council suspended the PFF on what it called ‘due to third-party interference, which constitutes a serious violation of the FIFA Statutes.’
The PSB director general while talking to ‘The News’ said that Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Dr Fehmida Mirza had requested for patience during her press conference held a couple of days back.
FIFA, football’s world governing body, has suspended the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) due to third-party interference.
A group of football officials, led by Ashfaq Hussain Shah, who was elected as PFF president in the 2018 elections sanctioned by the Supreme Court but not recognised by FIFA, took over the headquarters last month and seized control from the PFF Normalisation Committee (NC) appointed by FIFA and headed by Haroon Malik.
FIFA said its decision to suspend the PFF was prompted by the “hostile takeover” which constituted a serious violation of its statutes.
“FIFA issued a letter warning that, should the illegitimate occupation of the PFF headquarters not be lifted and the office bearers recognised by FIFA not be permitted free access to the building to carry out their mandate, the matter would be immediately submitted to the Bureau of the Council for decision,” FIFA said.
