Family, co-workers call for justice in deaths of workers killed on I-94

WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – Families gathered for the third time Wednesday, May 5 to call for justice in the deaths of two highway construction workers struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver on I-94 in Ypsilanti Township last fall.
Nicholas Andres Sada and Davyon Desmon-Aereailes Rose, both 23 from Lansing, were killed when a suspected drunk driver entered a construction zone on eastbound I-94 near Harris Road in Ypsilanti Township and hit them at about 1:40 a.m. Nov. 7.
The driver accused of killing the pair, Ryann Danielle Musselman, 29, of Belleville, was arrested and charged with two felony counts of operating while intoxicated causing death. Musselman is currently free on $10,000 bond.
ALBION â A LaOtto man who allegedly engaged in a shootout with police at a Kendallville mobile home park early April 22 has been charged with attempted murder and other high-level felonies.
Justin Weikel also has other pending criminal cases in Noble and Steuben counties on top of the new charges, which were filed Friday morning.
Weikel, 40, has been charged with five new counts â all felonies â starting at the top with a Level 1 felony count of attempted murder. Other charges including aggravated battery, a Level 3 felony; unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, a Level 4 felony; possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 4 felony; and resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, a Level 6 felony.

Parker County Dispatch Telecommunicator Ricky Huff was recently recognized with two awards for Telecommunicator of the Year for his quick actions and ability to remain calm during a 911 active shooter call.
Huff received the North Central Texas Council of Governments Regional Telecommunicator of the Year Award along with the State Telecommunicator of the Year Award from the National Emergency Number Association, and was presented by Parker County Sheriff Russ Authier.
ALBION â A Noble County judge Tuesday gave the Noble County Prosecuting Attorneyâs Office additional time to file charges involving a LaOtto man who led police on a high-speed chase that ended in a shootout with officers in Kendallville early Thursday morning.
A closed hearing was held Tuesday afternoon in Noble Superior Court I regarding Justin R. Weikel, 40. At the conclusion of that hearing, Judge Robert Kirsch gave Prosecutor Jim Mowery until 10 a.m. Friday to file formal charges relating to Thursdayâs incident.
An initial hearing in the case could come as early as Friday afternoon.
Initial reports indicate Weikel initiated a high-speed chase starting in Fort Wayne that traveled north to Kendallville.
FORT WAYNE â A LaOtto man who allegedly led police on a high-speed chase that ended in a shootout with officers in Kendallville early Thursday morning has been released from medical care and is being detained by police on an oustanding Noble County warrant.
Justin R. Weikel, 40, has not yet been charged with any charges from the early Thursday incident after police said Weikel initiatied a high-speed chase starting in Fort Wayne that traveled north to Kendallville.
The pursuit ended in Kendallville, where Indiana State Police said they exchanged gunfire with Weikel before taking him into custody.
On Sunday, Indiana State Police issued an update stating that Weikel has been released from medical care at a Fort Wayne-area hospital and is now being detained on an Noble County warrant for pending charges of possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a syringe.
