Date Time Major recreation projects completed in Drouin and Neerim South Baw Baw Shire Council joined Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing MP and members of the community to celebrate the completion of two major recreation projects on Saturday. Significant upgrades to the Drouin Netball Courts and the Neerim South Oval were undertaken over the past year in consultation with local sporting clubs. Drouin Netball Court Upgrade The project focussed on courts three to six at the Drouin Recreation Reserve, home to the Drouin and District Netball Association and Drouin Hawks Netball Club, who run competitions all year round. The project solved safety and compliance issues concerning the court sizes and layout, provided an upgraded drainage system, pedestrian access ramps, player shelters, height adjustable goal posts as well as a suite of peripheral items such as upgrades to boundary fences, retaining walls and footpaths.

Date Time One step closer to completing princes highway duplication between Traralgon and Sale Contracts have been awarded for construction of the final 43 kilometres of the Princes Highway to be duplicated between Traralgon and Sale in eastern Victoria. To provide more opportunities across the construction industry, the project will be delivered concurrently through a trio of construction partners including Laing O’Rourke, Whelans Group Investments and BildGroup. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said the $253.3 million project would duplicate the remaining sections of the Princes Highway East at Flynn and Kilmany and will result in better connections and a safer road while supporting hundreds of jobs.

Attorney-General defends Lisa Neville for spending sick leave in Port Douglas

Victoria s Attorney-General Jaclyn Symes has defended Police Minister Lisa Neville for going to Queensland while on sick leave, saying she is free to spend her time off wherever she chooses. Ms Neville was snapped at Zinc restaurant in Port Douglas after receiving advice to take three months sick leave due to ill health. The police minister was ordered by her doctors to take leave until May to recuperate and avoid further complications from Crohn s Disease.
