Darwin “Derb” Frey, 88, of Stapleton passed away peacefully on Feb. 4, 2021 at the Central Nebraska Veteran’s Home in Kearney.
Darwin was born May 14, 1932 at the home of Harry and Eva Frey in Stapleton.
He graduated in 1950 from Baker Rural High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force. Darwin served during the Korean War as an aerial gunner on a B-29 bomber flying out of Okinawa. He was decorated with the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters. After serving four years each of active and reserve duty, he was honorably discharged from the Air Force and enrolled in the University of Wyoming using the G.I. Bill.

Simon Hogg, 47, from Hurworth, Darlington, and a 46-year-old colleague were clearing one of a growing number of blockages inside a trommel, a large cyclindrical drum, at the Stonegrave Aggregates’ site, at Aycliffe Quarry, Newton Aycliffe, on December 12, 2015. Durham Crown Court heard that the 6 x 2m drum, which separates waste, was inadvertently switched on by a colleague in a separate cabin and the pair were violently thrown around, unable to get out or stop the machine.

Cameron Devlin and Phoenix could have their A-League season disrupted by the latest Covid-19 outbreak in Sydney. Two A-League games and two W-League games in the opening round face postponement. Victory s W-League team were meant to play the Wanderers on the opening day, while Melbourne City s A-League and W-League teams were both scheduled to face Sydney FC on December 30. The Wollongong-based Wellington Phoenix had been scheduled to travel to Brisbane to face the Roar at Dolphin Stadium in Redcliffe on December 29.
