Board Up the House. Then, in 2010, just when Genghis Tron were at their peak, they decided to take a brief break which turned into a decade-plus hiatus.
The guys went their separate ways, focusing on family and careers until an informal hang between founding keyboardist Michael Sochynsky and guitarist Hamilton Jordan turned into an unexpected creative session. The reconnection reignited their passion for the project and paved the way for Genghis Tron s new chapter of riff-filled, synth-fueled songs, which sees the band (also featuring new vocalist Tony Wolski and drummer Nick Yacyshyn) pushing into what Sochynsky describes as a more meditative, hypnotic, and maybe psychedelic territory.

In 2008 Genghis Tron dropped
Board Up the House an experimental, genre-defying album that served up a head-spinning hybrid of extreme metal and electronic music. The group s sophomore release (which featured a guest shot by Dillinger Escape Plan s Greg Puciato) was a critical darling and later the focus of remixes by tastemakers including Justin Broadrick (Godflesh, Jesu), Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails) and Ulver.
Genghis Tron soon found themselves playing Coachella and collaborating with their heroes Converge on Wretched World (from the Massachusetts crew s 2009 album
Axe to Fall). But despite the recognition and accolades, just two years after

GENGHIS TRON – Dream Weapon
Back after a long absence, Hamilton Jordan and Michael Sochynsky s fabled Genghis Tron returns, joined by two new members: vocalist Tony Wolski and Sumac/Baptists drummer Nick Yacyshyn. Full of crushing rhythms but overriding dreamlike vibe, the band builds upon layers of frenetic energy that elevates into a trancy state not unlike Boris with say more synths. It s dense, full of left turns and varied instrumentation, gorgeous harmonized vocals and lush electronics, but heavy indeed, and thread with a very precise needle to coalesce all its sums of parts into one interesting setting. The LP of the same name is out March 22nd on Relapse.
