An Oak Grove man was severely injured when his vehicle was struck by a train in Hopkinsville Monday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say the man was westbound crossing the tracks on East 7th Street when his car was hit by the train.
The man was trapped inside his car and had to be extricated by the Hopkinsville Fire Department.
He was taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for several injuries including a severe leg injury.
Christian County emergency personnel attempted to get a helicopter to transport the man but were not able to due to weather.
Several downtown railroad crossings will remain blocked as the crash is being investigated.
