JOHN EGGERS COLUMN: Are you driven?
The quality that drives Simon, our dog, to relentlessly search for something that he forgot is the same type of quality that people have who are driven to accomplish something. They just can’t let it go.

Our dog, Simon, has an interesting trait.
He likes to carry things on our daily walks. It could be a stick, football, or even a frozen head of cabbage. Invariably as we walk he will drop his baggage and explore.
As we continue our walk and when I notice that Simon has forgotten something, I will remind him, “Simon, where’s your football?” We could be a couple hundred yards away from where he last dropped it but he will first look around as if something is wrong and then charge off in the direction of the football. A few minutes later, he will come running up to me with the football in his mouth just to show me, “See, I didn’t forget.”

There is no one-and-done choices for female players because of the league s longstanding eligibility rules for the draft that haven t really been a major part of WNBA Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations. I m a believer in living in the now and right now I don t have that choice, said Bueckers, the UConn phenom and former Hopkins High School star who was honored Wednesday as the first freshman to be named The Associated Press women s basketball player of the year. I m focused on college right now. In the future, I feel like that option for future college students might be there.

A group of Owatonna girls are building their own group to carve a path for themselves and others.
Owatonna High School students have started a new organization intended to uplift, inspire and support girls. The new Girls United Owatonna chapter is one of nine chapters across Minnesota high schools.
The nonprofit club began after Jessica Melnik of Hopkins High School experienced gender inequality in her science classroom. She soon started organizing small group meetings with other girls to discuss gender discrimination, gender inequality and to support one another. It wasnât long before the club expanded to other schools with its vision to empower and inspire the next generation of young women.
