District Court • Charges of felony fifth-degree drug possession-not small amount of marijuana, gross misdemeanor obstruct legal process-interfere with police officer, misdemeanor trespass were filed April 27 against Jesse J. Barnhart, 31, 406 Broadway, Hanska. His bail was set at $10,000 without conditions Tuesday. An omnibus hearing was set for 8:30 a.m. June 1. According to court documents, New Ulm Police were dispatched to a report of a person breaking into a residence at on the 900 block of N. Garden St. at 2:24 a.m. Police saw Barnhart walking south on Garden St. sidewalk near 8th North. Barnhart said he was staying with a friend down the road, went for a walk, the next thing he knew, he woke up in a house he didn’t recognize.

Brown County Sheriff • Received a report at 6:37 a.m. April 26 about a burglary that occurred sometime overnight at the Hanska Post Office, 114 Broadway. Suspects stole a print scanner, copier and keys. A value amount of the stolen items was not available. New Ulm Police • Responded to a single-vehicle crash without injuries on the 400 block, 1st North Street at 8:48 a.m. April 26. A 2019 Volvo semi and trailer driven by Linda L. Ernster, 55, St. Louis Park, became lodged under the Marktplatz Mall overpass. Damage was significant to the top of the semi and front of the trailer. • Received a report about a burglary at 1001 Minnesota St. N. at 6:03 pm. April 25. The front door of the residence was kicked in during the day. A damage estimate was not available.

Benjarano NEW ULM Law enforcement is looking for a 38-year-old Hanska man accused of entering a New Ulm residence and assaulting a person March 26, 2021. Four felonies, including two counts of first-degree burglary, second and third-degree burglary plus gross misdemeanor fifth-degree assault within three years of previous conviction were filed against Jason R. Bejarano, 17 Broadway, Hanska in Brown County District Court Friday. According to court documents, New Ulm Police were dispatched to 1001 Minnesota St. N. at 6:05 a.m. March 26 for a reported domestic disturbance. Officer Eric Byro arrived a short time later, heard screaming from the outside and entered the residence.
