Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, joined around 20,000 people on Monday evening to watch a grand gala in Beijing in celebration of the centenary of the CPC s founding.

President Xi Jinping sent a letter on Monday to offer his congratulations on the launch of operations at the first two generating units of Baihetan Hydropower Station, calling for greater contributions to the nation s efforts to peak carbon emissions and attain carbon neutrality.
Being a major project in the west-east power transmission program, the hydropower station is the largest and most technologically challenging hydropower project being constructed in the world, Xi noted in the letter.
The generating units, which each have a capacity of 1 million kilowatts, the largest single-unit capacity in the world, also mark a major breakthrough in China s high-end equipment manufacturing, said Xi.

BEIJING, June 28 (Xinhua) Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday sent a letter to the Baihetan hydropower station in southwest China, offering his congratulations on the launch of operations of its first two generating units.
As a major project in China s west-east power transmission program, the hydropower station is the largest and most technically difficult hydropower project under construction in the current world, said Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.
