HADLEY A marijuana dispensary proposed for the Hampshire Mall is instead planning to locate inside a vacant Route 9 building.
Representatives from Hadleaf Holistic Greens Dispensary LLC will go before the Zoning Board of Appeals at 7:45 p.m. Thursday seeking a variance to use 251 Russell St., a building previously occupied by 50/50 Fitness/Nutrition and Brigade design agency before they moved to other sites. The building was originally used for auto sales and service when it displayed a flipped car on its roof.
A variance is needed from the ZBA to allow the dispensary to be within 300 feet of a residence under town zoning.

HADLEY Only essential services will be available in-person at the Hadley Senior Center until early January following a decision by the Select Board Dec. 17 to close the building to the public.
Citing the concerning rise in COVID-19 cases across the region in recent weeks, and anticipating the possibility of a similar spike following Christmas, the board voted 4-0, with Jane Nevinsmith abstaining, to keep the center shuttered until the board meets again on Jan. 6.
The decision also closes Town Hall to the public, though that building had been open to residents only by appointment.
