Marcus Stroman allowed one unearned run and added a run-scoring double Sunday afternoon, and Dominic Smith and James McCann homered as the visiting New York Mets defeated the Padres 6-2 to gain a split of a four-game series.
Behind Jacob deGrom and Stroman, the Mets won the final two games of the series while holding San Diego to two runs (one unearned) on 10 hits over 18 innings. The right-handed Stroman (5-4) gave up just four hits over 6 2/3 innings and issued a season-high four walks to go with seven strikeouts.

Some moms are lucky to have an easy delivery in the labor room, and then there’s TikToker Amy Dunbar. Her experience is enough to make some mamas jealous and she shared it in response to a prompt looking for ridiculous birth stories. “This one was made for me,” she says in the video, adding that she had been in labor for about 12 hours when doctors finally gave her an epidural.
“They figured out very quickly that it wasn’t working,” she recalls. “So they did whatever it is that they do to make it work.” And that meant that after 13 hours, Dunbar finally got some sleep. She explains that a nurse came in to check on her while she was snoozing and told her mom she just saw a big contraction on the monitor and that if she was sleeping through it, that means the epidural was working because she didn’t feel it.
