A Coast Guard search was set off late Sunday night in Dyes Inlet after authorities received reports of flare sightings in the vicinity of Lions Park in East Bremerton, a popular spot for shooting off Fourth of July fireworks.
A Coast Guard helicopter arrived in the area at about 12:30 a.m. Monday to search the water, Coast Guard spokesman Petty Officer Steve Strohmaier said. A law enforcement officer on the Warren Avenue Bridge aiding in the search saw many vessels on the water below but no signs of distress, he said.
At about 5 a.m. a Coast Guard vessel from Seattle conducted a first light search, and that search was suspended at around 7 a.m. with negative results and no signs of distress in the area, Strohmaier said.

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND – Fire crews from throughout Kitsap County were fighting a fire at a large home on the south end of Bainbridge Island Saturday night.
The home, located off Fort Street near Fort Ward Park, sustained extensive damage, Bainbridge Island Fire Department Chief Hank Teran said. No injuries were reported, and Teran said those inside had evacuated the building just prior to the arrival of firefighters.
Shortly before 9:30 p.m. Teran said fire crews had been on the scene for about an hour and said they were still working to put the blaze out, adding that the fire was contained to the original building at this time. A second alarm was called out for additional assistance because of the size of the building, Teran said, noting that crews from Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue, North Kitsap Fire and Rescue and the Poulsbo Fire Department were helping with the response.
