The main index at Bursa Malaysia rose 1.04% at the midday break today, tracking the jump at regional markets, as Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas)-linked stocks led the gains.
At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI was down 3.67 points to 1,581.23.
Losers edged gainers by 369 to 364, while 687 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 3.39 billion shares valued at RM1.98 billion.
The top losers included Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd, Computer Forms (Malaysia) Bhd, Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd, Heineken Malaysia Bhd, KESM Industries Bhd, Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd, Khind Holdings Bhd and Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd.
Index-linked glove makers Top Glove Corp Bhd, Supermax Corp Bhd and Hartalega Holdings Bhd also retreated.
The actively traded stocks included i-Stone Group Bhd, Luster Industries Bhd, Trive Property Group Bhd, QES Group Bhd, Iris Corp Bhd, Metronic Global Bhd and Aemulus Holdings Bhd.
KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 30): The main index of Bursa Malaysia reversed its earlier loss and edged higher in the mid-morning today against a backdrop of weaker regional markets.
At 10am, the FBM KLCI was up 0.92 points at 1,635.91. The index earlier slipped to a low of 1,631.77.
Gainers edged losers by 412 to 398, while 413 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 2.26 billion shares valued at RM828.73 million.
The gainers included Toyo Ventures Holdings Bhd, Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd (F&N), CN Asia Corp Bhd, Greatech Technology Bhd, KPower Bhd, Allianz Malaysia Bhd, Supermax Corp Bhd, Top Glove Corp Bhd and Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd.

KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI pared some of its gains at closing on Monday, as some mild profit-taking signs emerged on the local bourse.
At closing, the 30-stock index added 2.73 points to 1,643.9 after opening 1.06 points higher at 1,642.23. The index had earlier climbed to a high of 1,655.96 and fell to a low of 1,639.92.
There were 701 gainers, 549 losers and 407 counters unchanged. Turnover stood at 8.71 billion valued at RM3.9bil.
In today’s session, 15 of the KLCI-component stocks chalked up gains while nine counters fell and six counters closed unchanged.
Dealers said news on the US stimulus package boosted investor sentiment coupled with upbeat data from China.
