KLCI slips as regional markets succumb to profit-taking

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 18): The main index at Bursa Malaysia slipped at the midday break Thursday as regional markets succumbed to profit-taking. At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI dipped 3.52 points to 1,591.77. The index had earlier risen to a high of 1,599.31. Sentiment turned tepid with 531 losers and 325 gainers, while 677 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 8.47 billion shares valued at RM3.67 billion. The losers included Nestle (M) Bhd, Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd, KESM Industries Bhd, Tasco Bhd, Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd, Amtel Holdings Bhd, Grand Hoover Bhd, Solarvest Holdings Bhd and UPA Corp Bhd. The actively traded stocks included Dagang NeXChange Bhd, Velesto Energy Bhd, Alam Maritim Resources Bhd, Sapura Energy Bhd, DGB Asia Bhd, Dataprep Holdings Bhd and KNM Group Bhd.

FBM KLCI extends losses amid muted regional markets

The FBM KLCI continued to extend its losses today, with the broader market barely in positive territory today. At market close, the local benchmark index finished 0.68% or 10.85 points lower at 1,595.29, led by selldowns in Axiata Group Bhd, Hap Seng Consolidated Bhd and Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (PetChem).

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 15): The main index at Bursa Malaysia held on to the 1,600 threshold at the midday break Monday despite paring some of its gains, against the backdrop of firm regional markets. At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI was up 9.89 points to 1,609.31. The index had earlier risen to a high of 1,614.92. Market breadth was positive with 538 gainers and 234 losers, while 727 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 5.56 billion shares valued at RM2.56 billion. The top gainers included Nestle (M) Bhd, Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd, Genetec Technology Bhd, ViTrox Corp Bhd, UWC Bhd, PMB Technology Bhd, Grand Hoover Bhd, Malaysian Pacific Industries and Central Global Bhd.

FBM KLCI kicks off the year of the Metal Ox with 0 5% gain

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 15): The FBM KLCI kicked off the first trading day after the Lunar New Year break, with a gain of 0.54% or 8.65 points to settle at 1,608.07. The local benchmark index climbed after constituents MISC Bhd, RHB Bank Bhd and Genting Malaysia (GenM) posted gains.
