Dezeen and Knauf launch Architecture Project Talks

Dezeen has partnered with Knauf to present Architecture Project Talks, a series of presentations by architects about key projects that involve historic structures, sustainable materials and digital reconstruction methods. The three talks, which count towards continuing professional development (CPD) points for UK architects, feature Grade II -listed community theatre Battersea Arts Centre, Stirling Prize-shortlisted Cork House and 168 Upper Street, a deliberately distorted replica of a Victorian terrace. Albert Island redevelopment plans in Royal Docks approved

London and Regional Properties says the 25-acre Albert Island redevelopment -  just to the east of London City Airport - will create 1,200 jobs and contribute about £3million a year to the local economy. The project will be led by the real estate investment firm in partnership with the landowner - the mayor of London - as well as Newham Council and the Royal Docks Management Authority (RoDMA).

Eden District Council appoints contractors to explore redevelopment of Penrith Town Hall Penrith Town Hall A Cumbrian council has taken a step forward on a significant project to redevelop a key town centre building. Eden District Council has appointed architecture firm Haworth Tompkins and TEAM to explore the potential for redevelopment of the Grade II listed Town Hall in Penrith. “The Town Hall is a key civic building and we’re looking forward to exploring its potential to become a sustainable creative asset for Penrith,” explained Steve Tompkins, director at Haworth Tompkins. Howarth Tompkins has worked with many of the UK’s leading cultural organisations and its projects have won more than 150 major design awards, published and exhibited internationally.
