Sixty-eight people have died due to varied reasons while protesting against the Centre s farm laws at the state borders with Delhi, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij told the Assembly here on Monday. In a written reply to a question raised by two Congress MLAs, Vij said 21 of them belonged to the state while 47 were residents of Punjab.

Chandigarh, March 8 : Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on Monday informed the state legislative assembly that no proposal is under the consideration to give martyr status to the farmers who died in the ongoing agitation against three Central farm laws.
State Education Minister Kanwar Pal separately blamed the Congress leaders for the loss of life of the farmers during the ongoing agitation.
Clarifying further, Vij said that there is no proposal to provide either government jobs or financial assistance to the next of kin of the deceased farmers belonging to the state.
