Linde and Hyosung Partner to Develop Hydrogen Infrastructure in South Korea
Guildford, UK, February 4, 2021
- Linde (NYSE: LIN; FWB: LIN) announced today that it has partnered with Hyosung Corporation (Hyosung), one of South Korea s largest industrial conglomerates, to build, own and operate extensive new liquid hydrogen infrastructure in South Korea. This robust hydrogen network will support the country s ambitious decarbonization agenda to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
On behalf of the joint venture, Linde will build and operate Asia s largest liquid hydrogen facility. With a capacity of over 30 tons per day, this facility will process enough hydrogen to fuel 100,000 cars and save up to 130,000 tons of carbon dioxide tailpipe emissions each year. Asia’s largest hydrogen facility and a network of stations to be built in South Korea
The plans were announced today (4
th Feb) as part of a deal with Hyosung Corporation that will see the two companies build, own and operate a nationwide network of hydrogen stations.
Based in Ulsan, Linde said the 30 tonnes per day facility will use its proprietary hydrogen liquefaction technology, which the company says is currently used to produce approximately half of the world’s liquid hydrogen.
The first phase of the project is expected to be operational in 2023.

th Feb) unveiled plans to build and operate Asia’s largest liquid hydrogen facility in Ulsan, South Korea.
Set to boast a capacity of over 30 tonnes per day, the facility will process enough hydrogen to fuel 100,000 cars and will utilise Linde’s hydrogen liquefaction technology, which the company says is currently used to produce approximately half of the world’s liquid hydrogen.
The industrial gas giant’s commitment is part of a deal with Hyosung Corporation, one of South Korea’s largest industrial conglomerates, through which they will jointly build, own and operate a nationwide network of hydrogen stations.
