Company to send products to China soon Project start-up likely to pressure nickel price (Adds quotes, detail) BEIJING/HANOI, May 19 (Reuters) - China’s Lygend Mining said on Wednesday its nickel and cobalt smelting project in Indonesia had made its first batch of mixed hydroxide precipitate (MHP), becoming the first high-pressure acid leach (HPAL) project in the country to reach production. The $1.05-billion project on Obi island in the province of North Maluku is among several cobalt-nickel HPAL plants in nickel miner Indonesia that are under the spotlight as a source of supply for the burgeoning electric-vehicle battery sector. “Our first batch of nickel and cobalt hydroxide products will be shipped to China soon, and gradually enter the global market,” said Lygend’s president Jiang Xinfang.

The group said it would inject some 10 billion won (8.8 million) into the center set up by the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST) and Space Hub, a group-wide team led by Hanwha Solutions president Kim Dong-kwan, the eldest son of group chairman Kim Seung-yeon. The team will combine different products or services such as satellite components from Hanwha Systems and Satrec Initiative, a domestic satellite company controlled by Hanwha Aerospace

Renascor’s graphite purification process is an eco-friendly alternative to the predominate method. Renascor Resources Ltd (ASX:RNU) has started a bulk scale production program of Siviour Purified Spherical Graphite (PSG) to provide large-scale quantities to potential customers to support the progression towards binding offtake terms. The company has delivered 63 tonnes of representative ore from the Siviour Graphite Deposit in South Australia to China for processing into graphite concentrates at a commercial graphite facility.
