Hanwha, Doosan first to create synergy through hydrogen biz Posted : 2021-04-15 09:14 By Kim Hyun-bin Hanwha and Doosan have been leading the country in the hydrogen sector, even before Hyundai, SK and POSCO vowed to inject over 10 trillion won to help set up the country s hydrogen roadmap and infrastructure last year. Last July, Hanwha and Doosan became the world s first to launch a by-product hydrogen fuel cell power plant, becoming a leader and creating synergy in the renewable energy sector. In fact, NASA used fuel cells for its manned space missions in the 1960s. But fuel cells have not really “taken off” (pardon the pun) in earthly applications since that time. Some industry insiders believe that will change very soon. “We’ve been sort of monitoring hydrogen for a number of years and doing some research in it, and it became clear to us over the past few years that hydrogen can play a huge role in fighting the climate crisis and decarbonizing hard to decarbonize sectors,” Amy Adams, vice president of Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Technologies with Cummins, said as a guest on

Ireland has more than 2 5GW of grid-scale battery storage in development stages

Gigawatts of utility-scale battery storage projects in Ireland set to drive strong sector growth

Analyst, Solar Media Market Research Utility-scale battery storage project activity started for real during 2020, with a strong pipeline of projects built up in the last few years and ready for deployment in 2021 and beyond. Understanding what these sites look like (size, build phasing, co-location status), the key stakeholders at the pre-build stages, and when construction is likely to start, now form the main questions for component suppliers and final asset owners. Our in-house market research team has recently expanded the number of sites in the pipeline, reflecting new levels of market interest, and suggesting that long-term sustained growth in the sector could be achieved going forward.
