I heard on Monday that Bob Snyder hated everything I wrote about him over the years. Well, this time, he’s no longer around to complain about it!
Bob Snyder passed away on Saturday. Bob was instrumental in the development of the Nor’Easter Club. He owned the Catawba Leasing Company, and previously co-owned Riehl Manufacturing Company, Port Clinton Prop Repair, Cedarlane Campgrounds, and Catawba Mid-Way Marina.
Bob went on to develop Catawba Mini & Heated Boat Storage, The Marsh’s Edge subdivision, Catawba Bay subdivision, and the expansion of the Sutton Center. Bob was a philanthropist of the first order, especially locally.
ROSCOE A park being built in Roscoe Township is intended to preserve the area’s history while promoting a sense of community for present and future generations.
The Roscoe Township Board of Trustees broke ground Wednesday for a park and 3,350-square-foot community center at the 4500 block of Hononegah Road.
The development dubbed Founder’s Park will be located on 17 acres that includes the original home of Roscoe Township’s first non-native settler couple, Robert and Hanna Cross.
The Roscoe Township Historical Society is raising private funds to restore the Cross home, which was built in the 1840s.
The park will feature an open pavilion with seating, a vendor area for outdoor events, indoor antique farm equipment displays, a farmer’s market area, walking paths and community gardens.

OAK HARBOR The Port Clinton and Oak Harbor girls swim teams showed why they are two of the best in the area as both teams saw plenty of swimmers both individually and on relays qualify for the district tournament.
The Redskins had six first-place finishes, five of which were individual efforts.
Kami Periat had two first-place finishes, winning the 50 freestyle in 24.20 seconds, good for a pool record, and finishing first in the 100 butterfly in 59.28. Carlie Blaesing won the 200 individual medley (2:19.20) and was second in the 100 free (55.33), Alexa Taylor was first in the 500 free (5:48.81) and Gabbi Porter took first 100 breaststroke (1:12.26).
