Winter Grocery Basket distribution event in Lompoc (LUSD)
LOMPOC, Calif. - The spirit of giving during the on-going COVID pandemic was boosted by the Lompoc Unified School District with a Winter Grocery Basket distribution event.
“As many are aware, these are unique circumstances and we are doing our best to provide for all families in Lompoc,” said Hannah Carroll, Director of Child Nutrition Services.
An unexpected high turnout in the first hour of Friday’s event left many empty-handed as organizers ran out of food.

“We sincerely apologize if you were unable to pick up a free meal package,” said Carroll.
Winter break grocery baskets handed out to Lompoc Unified School District families
LOMPOC, Calif. - The Lompoc Unified School District is stepping up efforts to help families in need. Staff handed out special winter break grocery baskets on Friday.
The goal is to provide students and their families with nutritious food during the pandemic. Right now we re doing a special give out for the winter break so the kids have some extra food for the three weeks that they are home and out or school. So this is a little bit unique what we re doing right now. It s for the holiday season, said Hannah Carroll from the Lompoc Unified School District.
Local school district serves up to 20,000 meals per week

The Lompoc Unified School District is making sure no student goes hungry, even if they are learning from home.
Up to 20,000 meals are being served a week with help from bus drivers, staff and noon aides. Now more than ever I think the community is really seeing how important the work is that we do and that we are just here to feed the kids, no matter what. Covid or not we re here to make sure the kids get fed,â Hannah Carroll, director child nutrition services Lompoc Unified School District.
