Sanford Health of Northern Minnesota is remodeling its Bemidji Medical Center to make all of its patient rooms private. Sanford is also expanding its ICU and telemetry units as part of the projects. This is taking place as Sanford is undergoing a long-term facility planning process.
The highway s pavement will end its service life in 2025. In addition to needing a resurfacing, utility work is also required. We re bringing together in economic development, pedestrian advocacy groups, representatives from the city and county and a variety of other people there, said Ryan Zemek, HRDC economic development director. We ve been doing meetings twice a month and going segment by segment. We re asking what s working with this part of the corridor and what s not? What would improve traffic flow? and What would improve safety and pedestrian access?
On Thursday, the panel will take a look at initial concepts based on their input so far. The three segments under review include Gillett Drive to Hannah Avenue, Hannah Avenue to Ridgeway Avenue and Ridgeway Avenue to Bemidji Avenue.

It began soon after midnight on the south side. A man was found dead on the 2100 block of Hanna Avenue near Southside Park and the University of Indianapolis about 12:30 a.m. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officers were patrolling the park area when they found a parked vehicle and a man dead with at least one gunshot wound, though according to IMPD, he was not found in the vehicle.

Hours later, IMPD responded to a report of a man shot on the city s northeast side. He was found dead on the sidewalk about 5 a.m. on the 7100 block of Constitution Drive, near Indianapolis Fire Department Station 17. As of now, detectives believe he was there for a small gathering before the incident.
