On the list of 500 leading universities in emerging economies recently announced by the UK’s Times Higher Education (THE), Vietnam has three representatives:
Vietnam National University Hanoi (VNU-Hanoi), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), and Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-Ho Chi Minh City).
The 2021 THE rankings has expanded to 606 schools from 48 countries. VNU-Hanoi is placed among the world’s leading 251 to 300 institutions, while HUST was ranked between 351 and 400, with VNU-Ho Chi Minh City named between the top 401 and 500 educational establishments.
Vietnam accelerator ThinkZone ties up with BK Fund to raise $10m investment vehicle

Vietnamese early-stage accelerator ThinkZone has tied up with BK Fund, a venture investment fund of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), to manage and raise $10 million for its first investment vehicle, according to an announcement.
Called BK Fund 1, the investment vehicle aims to support potential startups in Vietnam with a ticket size of up to $1 million.
HUST, one of Vietnam’s oldest universities, has incubated the development of many technology entrepreneurs and big corporations such as Phu Thai Group, Austdoor Group, MISA, BKAV, Ahamove, and GotIt.

Switching her career to start her own textile and personal protective equipment (PPE) company, a female mechatronics engineering graduate from the Hanoi University of Science and Technology is now leading a firm of nearly 400 employees.
Nguyen Yen, 35 years old, is the co-founder and CEO of Nam Duong Textile Garment Production Trading JSC, which is based in the Vietnamese capital.
In a recent inteview with
Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper, Yen shared her thoughts on running such a business while being a mother of two children.
