HUNTINGTON â A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that occurred Monday afternoon on 6th Avenue.
Javier Jose Gonzalez Castro was arrested Monday evening after investigators with the Huntington Police Departmentâs Detective and Drug units identified him as a suspect in the shooting of a man and a woman at approximately 1:30 p.m. Castro was taken into custody without incident.
The shooting was reported at a residence in the 200 block of 6th Avenue. Patrol officers arrived to find the two victims with gunshot wounds. Both the man and woman were taken to a local hospital by Cabell County EMS for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to a news release from Huntington Police.

HUNTINGTON â The City Council will vote for its new representative on the Huntington Planning Commission on Monday.
Councilwoman Holly Smith Mount, who represents District 6 and is vice chairwoman of the council, could become the next representative. The position was left vacant after former Councilwoman Jennifer Wheeler resigned from City Council last week. Wheeler was also the chairwoman of the council.
A resolution for the motion is on the councilâs agenda for its Monday meeting.
In other items, the council will hear the first reading of a proposed zoning ordinance amendment to rezone a property from an R-2 Single Family Residential District to a C-2 Highway Commercial District.
