By City News Service Apr 6, 2021 LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The Los Angeles City Council today will consider a motion to seek legal remedies to obtain clean-up funding and accountability from the Exide Technologies battery recycling plant in Vernon, which allegedly polluted thousands of nearby homes with harmful chemicals. “Decades of unabated pollution from the Exide Technologies battery recycling plant in Vernon has resulted in excessive heavy metal contamination levels in what many are calling a toxic catastrophe in Boyle Heights, East Los Angeles and Southeast Los Angeles where residents have long complained about unexplained health issues consistent with toxic exposure, including cancer and other illnesses, the motion, which was introduced by Councilman Kevin de Leon, stated.

Woman s Body Found in California Dumpster Believed to Be Missing 75-Year-Old On 4/6/21 at 6:29 AM EDT An investigation is underway after the body of a 75-year-old woman was found in a trash receptacle in a park in Los Angeles. Los Angeles County sheriff s deputies originally responded to reports of a stolen vehicle, which the owner said went missing along with a 75-year-old family member. Preliminary information revealed foul play at the location and a stolen vehicle/missing persons investigation was initiated, the Los Angeles County Sheriff s Department said in a statement, without clarifying further. On Monday morning, the vehicle was located in the city of Rosemead, along with a male adult who is the son of the missing elderly female.
