Police: Man assaults Menard s employee, hits officer with hammer after mask dispute

HUTCHINSON, Minn. (FOX 9) - Police say a 61-year-old man assaulted a Menard’s employee and struck an officer with a hammer after a mask-related dispute in Hutchinson, Minnesota Wednesday.
According to Hutchinson Police, the incident occurred just before 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Menard’s on Montreal Street Southeast in the city.
Police responded to a report that the man assaulted an employee with some lumber after the mask dispute.
The suspect then left the store and was seen by police in a nearby Walmart parking lot. An officer tried to stop the vehicle, but a slow speed pursuit began near the Hutchinson Mall, police say.

HUTCHINSON, Minn. (KEYC) Authorities in Hutchinson say a man was arrested for assaulting a Menards employee and a police officer.
The Hutchinson Police Department reports it was dispatched to Menards at approximately 1:50 p.m. Wednesday on a report of a male who reportedly struck an employee with some lumber following a dispute over wearing a face mask.

HUTCHINSON, Minn. An officer is hospitalized after being assaulted and dragged from a vehicle at a high rate of speed during a traffic stop in Hutchinson Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
The Hutchinson Police Department said the officer pulled over a man who reportedly assaulted an employee at a Menards hardware store.
During the traffic stop, which occurred just before 2 p.m. Wednesday, police say the officer at one point became trapped in the window and the suspect drove off with the officer still hanging onto the vehicle. Officials say the officer was hit in the head with a hammer during the struggle. The officer was taken to Hutchinson Health and is in stable condition, according to police.
