Two injured in Wednesday morning crash on Blanchard Ave.
By The News staff
Two people were injured in a crash on Southwest Blanchard Avenue Wednesday morning that ended with one of the vehicles on its top, the Reno County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Joye Friesen, 70, was eastbound on Blanchard Avenue in a 2001 Villager about 9:20 a.m. and struck a 2007 F150 pickup driven by Daniel Hernandez.
Hernandez, 21, failed to yield while crossing Blanchard to the south, the report stated. After impact, his truck rolled and came to rest on its top.
EMS transported Friesen to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for her injuries and checked Hernandez on the scene. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the report stated.
Nickerson man injured in crash that was not found for several hours
Reno County Sheriff’s investigators believe a Nickerson man injured in a single-vehicle crash may have lain outside his vehicle for nearly 12 hours before the wreck was noticed by a passerby Monday morning.
Deputies, fire and EMS were dispatched about 7:50 a.m. Monday to the U.S. 50/K14 west junction for a report of an injury accident.
Arriving deputies found a red 2013 Chevy Blazer about 150 feet off the roadway in a tree row, and the driver, Scott Chapman, 44, of Nickerson, laying in the grass behind the vehicle.
It was determined Scott left the roadway to the left, overcorrected, and then went off the road to the right and down the embankment. The vehicle rolled at least two times and Chapman was ejected.
