Both the girls and boys Kotzebue High School Huskies teams left their mark on the Alaska School Activities Association 2021 March Madness 3A Basketball Championship. After the 2020 March Madness was canceled, the teams waited almost a year to start re-playing games. They made the tournament Elite Eight.
Only eight teams were in the 3A state championship this year instead of the usual 16 teams due to the COVID-19 precautions for all concerned.
The Kotzebue Lady Huskies finished their regular season undefeated at 8-0 (the only undefeated team entering the state tournament) and the No. 1 seed from their conference at the state tournament. The Lady Huskies easily rolled past Hutchinson High School in Fairbanks 58-17.
