The body found off of Route 440 in Bayonne has been identified, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit has identified the man found dead in a tarp in a wooded area off Route 440.
On April 27, at approximately 4:30 p.m., members of the Bayonne Police Department responded to an area near the 63rd Street exit of northbound Route 440 after a body was reportedly sighted.
Officers found a lifeless victim, later identified Jose Rivera, 41, of New York City. Next of kin has been notified.

The body that was found in a wooded area of Route 440 in Bayonne last month has been identified as New York City man, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said Wednesday.
On April 27, Bayonne police responded to the area of the roadway near the 63rd Street exit at 4:30 p.m. after a body was spotted there alongside a tarp, authorities said.

JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating the death of a 23-year-old Jersey City man who was fatally shot Monday night on Princeton Avenue and Brown Place in Jersey City.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, just before 11:00 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to a report of shots fired, and, once on scene, found a 23-year-old male victim – later identified as Emmanuel Garcia – who had sustained gunshot wound(s) to his body. Garcia was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 11:24 p.m.
