A 60-year-old man was killed and six other people were injured to varying degrees in a car crash on the Route 1 highway outside Jerusalem Thursday afternoon.
The accident was caused by a collision between a truck and several cars west of the capital.
Police said they were investigating the circumstances of the crash.
The Magen David Adom ambulance service said that a 35-year-old man was taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem with serious injuries.
Two other people, aged 30 and 40, were moderately injured and taken to Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem. Three other people injured in the accident were also taken to the hospital with mild injuries.

(April 30, 2021 / JNS) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared a national day of mourning for Sunday over the disaster that took place at a massive Lag B’Omer gathering at the foot of Mount Meron on Friday morning.

At least 45 people were confirmed dead and 150 people were injured, with dozens in serious condition and several in critical.
‘’There were heartbreaking scenes here. People were crushed to death, including children. Many of the victims have still not been identified and I would like to avoid the dissemination of rumors on social media because this breaks the families’ hearts. Let the authorities work,’’ said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who visited the site.
It remains unclear the specific cause of the disaster, Magen David Adom said the tragedy was likely caused by overcrowding at a narrow pass at the prayer compound.
