Speaking to the
Farming Independent Eoin Donnelly, a leading figure on the side of the association that is organising the AGM, confirmed the move which is also supported by the two Beef Plan Movement representatives that sit on the Beef Market Taskforce, Dermot O’Brien and Enda Fingleton.
Mr Donnelly said: “At the AGM - which will be held on Saturday, May 15 – we will hold a vote regarding a permanent rebrand of ‘Beef Plan Movement’.
“We will be putting it to members to ask them whether they want the name ‘Beef Plan Movement’ to be retired and that we would rebrand accordingly.

“My belief is that it is a witch-hunt. I haven’t seen any grounds for an issue or any evidence produced of any wrongdoing. This has hampered the movement and is not doing beef farmers’ cause any good.
“Huge sacrifices have been made by members of the organisation where travel expenses and time off work were not claimed. The vast majority of work was voluntary and the vast majority of money was put to good use.”
Mr Corley said an agreement was reached to allow for an independent audit of the organisation’s 2019 books to take place but he added that “it was never followed up by Mr O’Brien or Mr Fingleton”.

The co-founder of the Beef Plan Movement, Hugh Doyle, has said that two directors of the company were “removed” based on legal advice.
AgriLand reported last week that documents had been submitted to the Companies Registration Office (CRO) in December which stated that directors Enda Fingleton and Alan O’Brien had resigned.
However, Fingleton told
AgriLand that he and O’Brien had not resigned, and did not intend to do so, contending that they were removed over their scrutiny of the group’s accounts.
Now, a letter signed by Doyle – typed on Beef Plan-headed paper – argues that the work of the organisation has been “stifled” following a mediation process involving Doyle (and his associates) and the two ‘removed’ directors that failed to find a resolution.

Following the revelation last week that the Companies Registration Office (CRO) was told two directors of the Beef Plan Movement had resigned – seemingly without the knowledge of those directors – the two individuals concerned have launched a formal complaint with the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement (ODCE).
On Friday (January 8),
AgriLand reported that documents submitted to the CRO in mid-December showed that Enda Fingleton and Alan O’Brien had resigned as Beef Plan directors. However, sources close to both men denied that they had done so.
The documents that were sent to the CRO also showed that two other people had been appointed as directors, namely Jason Fitzgerald and Emmanuel O’Dea. A scanned document accompanying these papers includes a signature from Beef Plan co-founder Hugh Doyle.
