The Detroit Red Wings swapped three picks in the NHL Draft to get the No. 15 pick from the Dallas Stars, which they used to snag the first goalie of 2021 in Sebastian Cossa. It was the first in-draft trade of the night.
Detroit gave up their No. 23, 48 and 138 picks for 17-year-old Cossa of the WHL s Edmonton Oil Kings. In 19 games in his second season with Edmonton, the Canadian had a 0.941 save percentage and 1.57 goals-against average. We think [Cossa s] got a chance to be a really good goaltender in the NHL, Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman said. As you know, yesterday we acquired Alex Nedeljkovic, 25-year-old goaltender.
