Apr 30, 2021 SANDS TOWNSHIP, MI – Ronald David Campbell, age 79, of Sands Township, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at home, in the loving, comforting care of his family and Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice. Born August 21, 1941, in Pontiac, Michigan, a son of Earl James and Clara (Hottman) Campbell, Ron was raised in Evart, Michigan, where he attended a country grade school. He later attended Evart High School where he participated in football and track all four years, graduating in the Class of 1960. In 1957, while in high school, Ron enlisted in the Naval Reserve and, following graduation, joined the US Navy full time, beginning with basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois, and later in San Diego, California. Ron proudly served during the Vietnam Era aboard the destroyer U.S.S. Lofberg, kiddingly referred to as a “tin can.” Upon his honorable discharge in 1964, Ron returned to Michigan and was employed with GM in Flint from 1965 to 1971. In 1965, Ron met the love

Katherine Marie Mankee CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI – Katherine Marie Mankee (Crothers), left this world with her husband holding her hand, on April 19, 2021 and went to be with God after battling Alzheimer’s. Kathy was born and raised in Michigamme by her parents, Kathryn and Melvin Crothers, along with her siblings, Jim, Mary Jane and Dorothy. She loved singing and sang in three church choirs. On warm summer days, a dip in Lake Michigamme during her school lunch break brought her joy. She graduated top in her class from Michigamme High School. Kathy married the love of her life, Wes, on June 9, 1956. Together they raised their children, Jim (Diane), Deb (Max) and Diane aka Annie.

Apr 14, 2021 MARQUETTE, MI – Sue Ann Burdick, age 70, of Marquette, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021, at UP Health System-Marquette. Sue was born July 19, 1950, in Traverse City, a daughter of Stanley and Vida (Zimmerman) Miner. As a youth, Sue was somewhat of a very free spirit and enjoyed her early years. She graduated from Gull Lake High School, Class of 1968. Following graduation, Sue traveled and later began working as a nurses aide in local nursing homes in the Kalamazoo area. She later relocated to Marquette where she has resided for the past 28 years. Music was the source of her happiness along with her artistic talents and her love of reading. Sue had a great sense of humor, loved cracking jokes, and kept her humor until the very end.
